UPDATE:
[PHMOmag spoke with a representative from Mighty Penny Mint Productions, who said the company understood that information about the production was public. However, details surrounding when a final decision would be made about filming in Pleasant Hill had been kept confidential.

The representative said it is now a good thing residents and businesses understand which streets will be closed and when. He also emphasized the importance of respecting safety measures put in place to protect the production crew, participants and the show’s star during filming.]

A television production could soon be coming to downtown Pleasant Hill, but first, a request connected with the production is headed to the Pleasant Hill City Council.

The City Council will hold a special meeting Monday, Sept. 21 at 6 p.m. to consider a special events application submitted by Mighty Penny Mint Productions in connection with plans to film an episode of Kitchen Nightmares at Big Creek Cafe, 113 Wyoming Street.

According to the application submitted to the city, filming is planned for Monday, Sept. 28 through Friday, Oct. 2.

The production company lists its anticipated hours as approximately 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, with an overnight renovation planned for the night of Sept. 30. The application states that production staff and on-site security would be present throughout the project.

What the production is asking from the city

Monday’s special meeting centers on requests for the use of city property and parking areas needed to accommodate the production.

The application requests use of the Western Auto lot at 105 S. First Street for staging a kitchen truck or motorhome and the Second Street parking lot for crew parking.

The production also requests parking at the Cass County Fairgrounds from Sept. 28 through Sept. 30, as well as blocking parking spaces on Wyoming Street between Noggins and Wing Hill Wine from 3 p.m. Sept. 30 until 3 p.m. Oct. 1.

The City Council agenda lists four requests for consideration: use of the Western Auto lot, use of the Second Street parking lot, potential use of portions of the parking lot at The Hill Complex, and closure of parking spaces from Wing Hill Wine to Mural Park.

The requests are scheduled for council consideration Monday and have not yet been approved by the City Council.

Kitchen Nightmares is a television series featuring chef and restaurateur Gordon Ramsay working with restaurant owners to make changes to their restaurants and operations.

PHMOmag will follow Monday’s special City Council meeting and provide an update following the council’s decision.
