July is Heating Up with the Cass County Fair and Community Events
The Cass County Fair, Pleasant Hill Cruise Nights, and performances by the Pleasant Hill Theatre Guild are among the major events in Pleasant Hill and Cass County from July 14 to 26. The Cass County Fair, the biggest attraction of the season, returns to Pleasant Hill Fairgrounds July 14–19 with six days of family entertainment, agricultural traditions, exhibits, competitions, food, music, and community celebrations. Featured events at the fair include the Power Wheels Race at 5:30 p.m. on July 15, live music from Mudflap Mafia at 9 p.m. on July 16, the Art & Photo Show at 1 p.m. on July 17, the Cass County Fair Parade at 9 a.m. on July 18, and the Super Farmer Competition at 4 p.m. later that afternoon. Also on July 16, Wing Hill Wine Co., located at 115 Wyoming Street, will host a free wine tasting from 4 to 8 p.m., offering visitors an opportunity to sample wines and spend an evening in downtown Pleasant Hill. The following evening, July 18, Pleasant Hill Cruise Nights returns to downtown from 10 AM to 2 PM. Classic cars, trucks, and hot rods will line the streets as residents and visitors gather for one of the community’s favorite summer traditions. Cruise Nights takes place on the third Friday of each month from May through October.
Saturday, July 18, begins with the Community Breakfast at VFW Post 3118 from 7 to 10 a.m. Donations from the breakfast support veteran and community programs through the sponsorship of Yennie & Jones Insurance Agency.
On July 21, the Pleasant Hill Chamber of Commerce will hold its monthly luncheon at the Memorial Building, with networking for businesses and guest speakers. That same afternoon, the Cass County Library’s Pleasant Hill Branch will host Homeschool Parents Chat from 2 to 3 p.m. The informal gathering gives homeschooling families an opportunity to connect, share ideas, and learn from one another’s educational experiences.
The week continues on July 23 with another free wine tasting at Wing Hill Wine Co. from 4 to 8 p.m. Later that evening, Fleming Floral Station, located at 801 Cedar Street, will host a Tie Dye Beach Towels workshop from 6 to 8 p.m. Led by Dani and Justine of A2 Designs, participants will create custom beach towels while enjoying wine and snacks. The event is designed for friends, families, and anyone looking for a creative night out. The cost is $30 for one towel or $50 for two towels, and advance registration is recommended due to limited space.
The Pleasant Hill Theatre Guild will take center stage July 24 and 25 with performances of The Addams Family Musical at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, 1300 Lexington Road. Performances are scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday, July 24, and at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 25. The production brings the beloved and delightfully unusual Addams Family characters to life through music, comedy, and family-friendly entertainment.
Saturday, July 25, the Pleasant Hill Farmers Market will be from 9 a.m. until noon. That evening, the Cass County Library’s Pleasant Hill Branch will host its Summer Library Festival for Adults from 5 to 9 p.m. The special after-hours event is designed exclusively for adults and offers a relaxed environment to enjoy library activities, creative projects, live music, and meet new friends.
The final event in this stretch of summer activities takes place July 26 at Musket Cellars & Vineyard in Pleasant Hill. From 2 to 4 p.m., guests can participate in a Doorleaner Craft & Sip workshop, creating a custom summer-themed door leaner while enjoying a glass of wine. The $50 registration fee includes the door leaner, stencil, painting supplies, instruction, and one glass of Musket wine. Participants may choose from several summer-themed designs or create their own project.
