Bombshell and Outdoor Couple; The Huerters Make a Big Impact in the Community

Down the main drag of Pleasant Hill, one will pass many thriving businesses. Two of them are owned by a passionate married couple with big dreams. These shops bring fashion flair and mechanical expertise to the community, backed by years of experience and a genuine commitment to serving Pleasant Hill. One of our writers, Bunny Tuttle, had the chance to interview Ryan and Dana Huerter of Pleasant Hill and get a peek into their lives.

The duo wed in 2018, each already having raised three children and having blended their lives. Dana Huerter said, “We have successfully supported each other’s individual business dreams while planting deep roots in our community.” Dana Huerter with her company, Bombshell Studio, and Ryan Huerter with Outdoor Power Center. They both serve the community almost side by side along Highway 7.
Dana Huerter’s shop, nestled in the middle of town, is located at Pleasant Hill Plaza, or more precisely at 2001 N. 7 Highway. She has a vision to share her knowledge of fashion, beauty, and comfort with her fellow community members, bringing 35 years of experience in cosmetology, including hair, nails, esthetics, instruction, and more. She is considered an expert in her industry. This fashion entrepreneur has also built a women’s boutique inside the studio, filled with designer and leather bags, shoes, jewelry, couture pieces, and unique West Coast fashions. She also adds for the community, Rooster items that celebrate the high school and Chiefs apparel.

According to Tuttle, Huerter is very serious about serving her customers well, presents herself professionally in the store, and keeps her shop always looking great, with something new every time she visits. Tuttle said, “What struck me most during my visit was Dana herself. She is friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in helping people look and feel their best. She keeps the boutique updated with fresh styles and greets guests with easy conversation and a welcoming smile.” Huerter loves being in Pleasant Hill and having a business very near her husband, Ryan Huerter.
Ryan Huerter’s shop, located at 1309 Highway 7, is not far from his wife’s shop and has a history in Pleasant Hill. Many of you reading this now might remember Rick and Pam Jurss, who owned Outdoor Power Center and repaired small engines. Well, Huerter took the baton and expanded the business by leveraging his automotive repair skills while still repairing small engines and handheld equipment, and staying in retail.

These are two successful business leaders in our community, but this most certainly isn’t the end of the story or even the best part. We not only have two very competent people serving our community, but we also have a couple with big hearts. These two shine the most outside of business hours.
To mention, they also have a new joint-venture business, Roadahead Auto Sales, which operates out of the Outdoor Power Center. They offer auto sales, inspections, alongside their repair services.

These two love to give to families and pets in need. Every December, the two inspire their shops to compete in an annual food drive. They even named their teams the Bombshells and the Greasers. Dana Huerter also spearheads the popular Furry Love animal shelter fundraiser. This furbaby mom of three beloved dogs is holding a drawing for a fur coat, with entries based on donations of blankets, pet food, and towels for the local animal shelter.

Together, Dana and Ryan Huerter say they aim to embody the best of Pleasant Hill entrepreneurship and want to dedicate themselves to quality service. They echo that they are passionate about their town and want to put family and community first. Outside of work, they enjoy traveling and spending time with their large, blended family, and feel there is no limit to what they can achieve as long as they remain dedicated to their craft and community.
