Big Creek BBQ Bash Heats Up Pleasant Hill October 3–4, 2025

Pleasant Hill is getting ready to fire up the grills and welcome the community to the Cass County Fairgrounds for the second annual Big Creek BBQ Bash, happening Friday and Saturday, October 3–4, 2025. The event is hosted by Downtown Pleasant Hill, Inc., a local nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the town’s history, strengthening its economy, and building community pride.

This two-day festival is more than a barbecue competition — it’s a celebration of community spirit, local talent, and small-town hospitality. The Bash kicks off Friday at 4:00 p.m. with vendors and food trucks ready to serve, followed by the crowd-favorite People’s Choice Wing Tasting from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tickets are just $10 for six wings and can be purchased online in advance or at the event while supplies last. As the sun sets, the fairgrounds will come alive with a free concert from Hunter Mounce & Band from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m., creating the perfect soundtrack for a fall evening. Downtown Pleasant Hill, Inc. will also host a beer tent and serve Pleasant Hill’s favorite wine slushies, making it easy to sip and relax while enjoying the show.

On Saturday, the air will be thick with the mouthwatering smell of barbecue as 15–20 competitive teams fire up their smokers for a full day of Kansas City Barbeque Society–sanctioned competition. Visitors are encouraged to walk the grounds, chat with the teams, and soak in the atmosphere — it’s one of the best-smelling weekends of the year. Vendors, food trucks, and entertainment will be open until 4:00 p.m., making it the perfect day to bring the family and spend time together.

“Big Creek BBQ Bash isn’t just a cook-off—it’s our town gathering around the fire,” said Don Donovan, Board President of Downtown Pleasant Hill, Inc. “This event brings together what we love most about Pleasant Hill—hospitality, hard work, and heart. When you come out on October 3–4, you’re not just enjoying a fun weekend; you’re investing in projects that strengthen our downtown and our sense of belonging.”For more details, vendor information, or to purchase People’s Choice tickets, visit downtownpleasanthill.org.
